The Choices That Change Us
Sometimes the hardest choices are the ones we never expected to face.
Best friends Katie and Liz, from the picturesque North Yorkshire village of Green Hammerton, have always shared everything: laughter, dreams, heartbreak, and an unbreakable bond. When Katie accepts a temporary nanny position in a beautiful coastal village in Nova Scotia, she hopes the change of scenery will help her rediscover herself after life had taken an unexpected turn. Neither woman could have imagined how one decision would change both of their lives forever.
Katie soon finds herself drawn into the lives of widowed Royal Canadian Navy Commander Ethan Hayes and his spirited six-year-old son, Callum. Beneath Ethan's quiet strength lies a heartbreaking past, while Katie carries doubts and dreams of her own.
As friendships deepen and emotions become impossible to ignore, Liz's arrival in Canada sets off a chain of events that none of them could have anticipated. Loyalties are tested, hidden truths emerge, and every heart is forced to confront an impossible question.
Can love survive when friendship is on the line? And when life changes direction, do we hold on to the future we imagined... or find the courage to embrace the one we never saw coming?
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Nova Scotia's rugged coastline, The Choices That Change Us is an emotional story of friendship, grief, healing, forgiveness, and the unexpected paths that lead us home.
Perfect for readers who love heartfelt contemporary women's fiction, unforgettable characters, and stories that remind us that sometimes the greatest act of courage is choosing the life that truly belongs to us.

Hartwood Castle
My inspiration for Hartwood Castle grew from a lifelong fascination with the romance, elegance and intrigue of the early nineteenth century, combined with my love of the magnificent Castle Howard in North Yorkshire. Ella's character was inspired by one of my closest friends, who once lived in the picturesque village of Thornton-le-Dale and worked as a waitress at Castle Howard's restaurant. From that simple spark, a story began to unfold.
I fell completely in love with the characters I created, especially the Duke, and found researching York and Yorkshire in 1825 both fascinating and inspiring. As Ella and the Duke's worlds collide, past and present become entwined, and a love thought impossible begins to blossom.
Rich in romance, mystery and emotion, Hartwood Castle invites readers into a captivating journey where time itself cannot prevent two souls from finding each other. But when love spans centuries, the greatest sacrifice may be the one neither of them is prepared to make.

The Blushing Hart
The Blushing Hart was my first novel, although the inspiration behind it had been with me for many years. I had always dreamed of writing a novel but never truly believed I could do it. The storyline remained quietly at the back of my mind until one day I read a quote that changed everything:
"Just write. If it's not quite right, you can always change it. Writing something imperfect is better than not writing at all."
The moment I put pen to paper, the story began to flow. Part of the inspiration came from a tragic real-life event that stayed with me for decades. When my children were young, I knew of a beautiful young woman who owned a boutique. After a relationship ended, a former boyfriend attacked her with a hammer. Although she survived, the physical, emotional and psychological impact changed her life forever. Her story remained with me and became one of the inspirations behind the darker themes explored in this novel.
Another deeply personal element of the story is Carla's daughter, who struggles with anorexia. The emotions and experiences woven into this part of the narrative draw upon my own battle with anorexia as a young girl, bringing an authenticity and understanding to the challenges faced by the characters. Set against the backdrop of a picturesque Yorkshire village, The Blushing Hart is a compelling story of love, betrayal, resilience and survival. As Carla is drawn into a web of secrets and danger, she discovers that the past has a way of catching up with the present. Filled with twists, suspense and emotional depth, this is a novel that explores the strength of the human spirit and the courage it takes to rebuild a life when everything you hold dear is threatened. Love, betrayal and suspense collide in a gripping story that will keep you turning the pages until the very end.

A True Story of Love, Loss and Survival
A True Story of Love, Loss and Survival is my deeply personal memoir and the most emotional book I have ever written.
It tells the story of my journey alongside my three sisters as we faced the devastating impact of hereditary cancer and the BRCA gene. After losing one sister to cancer, my two remaining sisters and I were diagnosed within just a month of one another. Tragically, we would lose another sister along the way. It was a period of unimaginable grief, fear and uncertainty. There were times when both my body and mind felt disconnected from the person I once was. The future seemed unclear, and life as I knew it had changed forever. Yet amid the heartbreak, I discovered resilience I never knew I possessed. Through reflection, emotional healing, determination and the therapeutic power of writing, I slowly began rebuilding my sense of identity, strength and purpose. Writing this memoir became my therapy. It gave me a safe place to release my grief, process my trauma and make sense of the rollercoaster of emotions that accompanied loss, illness and survival. Alongside the tears, there were also moments of humour, love and hope that helped carry me through the darkest days. Looking back, it was the most tragic and traumatic chapter of my life, but it was also one that taught me the true meaning of courage, family, resilience and the preciousness of every single day. This is a story of love, loss, sisterhood, survival and the extraordinary strength of the human spirit.
